Tunisia has a production of shellfish of about 5600 Tons, which is mainly exported towards the European Union.

The fishing of shrimps is authorized by the trawling in the Gulf of Gabès (for depths > with 30m for the trawlers whose power is < to 500 CV and the depths > with 30m for the trawlers whose power is < to 500 CV) for the periods of following fishings: from May 16th to July 15th and from October 15th to November 15th. Moreover, this fishing is authorized by fishing with the gill net in the Gulf of Gabès lasting all the year without limits.
The lobster is also produced in Tunisia for quantities of about 50 Tons.
The fishing of lobsters is authorized in the coasts North by fishing with the lobster boat and this from March 1st to September 15th.
