Bivalvular Molluscs (Shells)
The production borders the 700 Tons including one great part is exported towards the European Union.
4 species are produced:
- Clovisse Slaps Decussatus (72% of the production)
- the Mussel Myphelus galloprovencialis (26% of the production)
- The Oyster Oestra edullis (quantity: 1 Ton)
- Winkles (quantity: 10 Tons)
The harvest of the clovisses is authorized in:
- The gulf of Gabes, Tunis Lake and Lac of Bizerte by fishing with foot during
period from October 1st to May 14th.
- The channel of Tunis by fishing with boats during the period of October 1st with
May 15th.
The minimal overall length of the clovisses and the moulds is of 3.5 cm, that of oysters is of 5 cm.
